Hyderabad: Covid-19 struck the family of SM Sultan. The former secretary of united Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association fought a bitter battle against the virus before he passed away in Vijayawada on Saturday. He was 60. Earlier Sultan’s mother died of coronavirus last week while his wife Lubnav Moosavi too succumbed to this disease on Friday. His son Javeed Moosavi is now battling for his life.

Sultan continued to be the secretary of AP Table Tennis Association after the formation of Telangana State and is also the vice president of the AP Olympic Association. Known for his administrative skills, Sultan encouraged district players. Under his leadership, the Asian junior table tennis championship was conducted in Hyderabad a few years ago.

Narasimha Rao, who is the vice president of the Telangana State Table Tennis Association, said Sultan was one of the friendly administrators. “He always sported a smile and worked tirelessly for the development of the game in the State,’’ he said.
