The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that the mandatory Aadhaar biometric update for children aged 5 to 17 years will remain free until September 30. Parents have been urged to complete the update at ages 5 and 15 to keep records accurate.
UIDAI has waived charges for Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU-1) for children aged 5–17, effective from October 1 for one year. This move benefits around six crore children and enhances access to services like school admissions and scholarships.
The Commissioner and Inspector General of Stamps and Registration department informed that Aadhaar online services were suspended due to some technical problems in the UIDAI networking.
