The CBI had arrested Mahanta and two other railway officials on July 7, 2023 in connection with its probe in the Balasore triple train accident case in which 296 people were killed and over 1,200 injured.

While sending the accused persons to judicial custody, the court has scheduled the next date of hearing of the case on July 27

After the arrests, the central agency brought all of them to Bhubaneswar and produced before them in a CBI court here after their health check-up.
