Kerala has directed government departments to curb expenditure while preparing Budget Estimates for the next financial year as fiscal pressures persist. The state has also asked departments to avoid non-essential projects and tighten spending despite higher revenue receipts
The EY India Economy Watch report noted that over the past three years, gross tax revenue buoyancy has gently moderated, from 1.4 in 2024 to 1.15 in 2025 and projected to be 1.07 in 2026
The Finance department instructed all the heads of departments and other officers to furnish proposals for the Revised Estimates 2022-23 and the Budget Estimates 2023-24.
