The FSSAI has introduced strict standards for Hyderabadi Haleem, including minimum meat, protein and moisture requirements. The new regulations aim to standardise the iconic dish, with compliance deadlines extended until November 2026 following concerns raised by exporters and manufacturers.
The Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, passed by the previous BJP government in the state, designates cattle as “cow, calf of a cow and bull, bullock and he or she buffalo”, stating that their slaughter is banned.
