US President Donald Trump has said Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States in two weeks. Trump made the announcement at a Republican campaign rally in South Carolina but did not provide details about the date, venue or agenda.
Xi Jinping is widely tipped to be given an extended term as CCP’s General Secretary. For the rest of the world, this means Xi will stay on as Chinese President for another five years, even possibly longer.
China this year has approved plans to build a huge dam over the Brahmaputra river during the current 14th Five-Year Plan, which raised concerns in the riparian states of India and Bangladesh.
In a message to Trump, Xi said that after learning President Trump and Melania have tested positive for COVID-19, he and his wife Peng Liyuan extend sympathy to them and wish them a speedy recovery
