Russell's film marks the singer's return to the big screen since "Cats", the 2019 musical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's long-running stage show which was slammed by the critics.

The Oscar-winning actor previously collaborated with the director for critically-acclaimed movies "Out of the Furnace" and "Hostiles".

The film was originally slated to start production in April, but production was pushed back until this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to Deadline, the picture does not have a title or a logline, but the outlet can reveal it will shoot in Los Angeles in January.
