The Jharkhand High Court delivered long-pending verdicts on 10 convicts, including six on death row, after the Supreme Court intervened over delays. The apex court directed legal aid for affected convicts and sought nationwide reports on cases where judgments remain reserved for years

As many as 182 prisoners serving their life imprisonment in different jails in Madhya Pradesh would be freed on the occasion of Independence Day.

The remission was granted only for convicts with good conduct and priority was accorded to elderly persons as per guidelines
