In a statement posted on social media platform X on Thursday, OCHA reported that key crossings for aid into Gaza have been closed for several days, making access to the Palestinian enclave unsafe and logistically unfeasible.
The cyclone is expected to make landfall near Beira in central Mozambique on Saturday morning, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the UN's authoritative voice on weather, climate and water.
"Compared to the average of the last five years, acute food insecurity has increased by a staggering 514% in Burkina Faso, 130% in Mali and 144% in Niger."
