Indonesia saw its number of confirmed new cases climb to nearly 10,000 a day on Wednesday, an increase blamed on travel during last month's Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state in terms of the number of cases and deaths, on Sunday reported the highest number of 68,631 fresh infections.
Arrivals will be banned and landings will be permitted only in a few exceptions including cargo flights, medical emergencies, and fire service flights.
