On Day 1 of the Brussels Diamond League final, Indian 3000m steeplechase runner Avinash Sable will make his debut. Ranked 14th in his event, Sable will face top athletes including Ethiopia's Samuel Firewu, Kenya's Amos Serem and Abraham Kibiwot, and Ethiopia's Getnet Wale.

The season finale, set for September 13 and 14, will be a two-day event. The Indian javelin star, who won the 2022 Diamond League, participated in the Doha and Lausanne meets this year, earning 14 points from his second-place finishes. He chose to skip the Zurich leg of the series on Thursday.

Chopra had a best throw of 88.36 metres, ending behind Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, who finished first with a best effort of 88.38.

The 28-year-old Sable, running his second race of the season, clocked 8 minutes 21.88 seconds, well outside his personal best of 8:11.20s, to finish fifth
