When Chandrashekhar Rao resigned from the Medak Lok Sabha seat after swearing in as the first Chief Minister of Telangana in 2014, he gave Prabhakar Reddy a chance to contest in the Lok Sabha by-election in 2014.

The bypoll was necessitated following the sudden demise of sitting TRS MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy due to illness in August.

Describing the three agriculture bills as anti-farmers, the Minister said the Congress in Telangana did not even stage a protest against these bills.
