Several Telangana universities are facing a severe shortage of regular teaching faculty, with large numbers of sanctioned posts lying vacant. The crisis has forced departments to depend on academic consultants and retired teachers, raising concerns over university rankings, accreditation, PhD supervision and research.

The permission is to engage the faculty on contract basis till March 31, 2025 or till the regular posts are filled-up or till the actual need ceases

Of the 1,267 sanctioned positions across departments, with teachers superannuating over the years, 845 posts lie vacant
