Telangana health authorities have intensified checks on fertility clinics, uncovering regulatory violations at 50 of 379 inspected establishments. Two registrations were cancelled, nine permissions suspended and others served notices, while authorities also stepped up PC-PNDT inspections.
A DNA test has exposed a Rs 35 lakh surrogacy scam at Universal Srushti Fertility Centre in Secunderabad. The clinic allegedly sold babies to childless couples, trafficked gametes across states, and forged records. Ten people, including the doctor, have been arrested.
