It was previously the site of the 2016 Copa America Centenario final, where Chile triumphed over Lionel Messi’s Argentina in a penalty shootout. In addition to the FIFA Club World Cup final, the venue has also been selected to host the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, along with two knockout matches and five group-stage games.
