The families of the four accused are influential people in the village and the four-five Dalit families in the village want to stay out of 'trouble' and will not support us. There are over 63 upper caste families who do not even talk to us.

The woman and her husband have filed a case against the accused at Mufassil police station.

The accused have been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Based on a complaint filed by the woman, a case was registered against two men on charges of gang rape and three others on charges of criminal conspiracy, the police said.

The SIT was set up on September 30 and initially given seven days to probe the Hathras case, but given 10-day extension on its request.

The three accused, who also blackmailed the girl and threatened to upload her objectionable video online if she resisted their advances, have been arrested.

The survivor was rescued on the night of October 13 by the Commissionerate Police from Gatirout Patana area of Cuttack.

It also asked the court to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a fortnightly status report on the investigation to the State government which can be filed by the DGP of UP before the court.

The family members alleged that the girl ended her life as her complaint was not registered, a charge denied by the police, who said that the victim's kin had not given any application to lodge an FIR.

The victim's brother has been brought to the incident site where the CBI team is carrying out the investigation.
