The GHMC approved a Rs 11,460 crore budget for 2026-27 in its final council meeting of the term. Commissioner RV Karnan highlighted challenges in integrating 27 newly merged Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), many of which have outstanding loans from TSUFIDC.

Srinivas Yadav said the BJP which has 47 corporators and two ex-officio members in the GHMC Council of 150 corporators, contested for both the posts.

BJP State president said if people gave the Mayor's post to BJP, the party would have definitely taken up the electoral promise on a priority basis

Responding to Opposition legislators' allegations during the discussion on the GHMC (Amendment) Bill in the State Legislative Council, the Minister said the 50 per cent reservation for women will not have any impact on the BC reservation.

MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao pointed out that the TRS had set an example for others by getting women to win from 79 municipal divisions though only 75 seats reserved to them of the total 150 divisions in the GHMC.

"The Forest Research Institute released a report recently revealing that the green cover in the State increased by 6-7 per cent which can be attributed to various measures by the State government."
