In Gundi village of Asifabad mandal, residents continue to cross a stream using unsafe rafts made of thermocol due to the long-pending construction of a sanctioned bridge. Despite promises from officials and a sanctioned budget under NABARD in 2007, the project remains incomplete with only columns erected.

Locals said the auto-rickshaw, carrying two passengers, attempted to cross the stream using the temporary bridge when the water level rose suddenly due to heavy rains upstream

The bridge was to be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.50 crore with financial help from NABARD and the works had begun way back in 2007
