Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The district police have cracked the mystery behind the suspicious death of a youngster from Agarguda four years ago, with the arrest of two persons, including a woman. Another person wanted in the case is absconding.

District SP Nitika Pant said that the arrested, Konduri Malleshwari, a cook at a BC Welfare hostel, and Chennuri Thirupathi of Agarguda, were held for their involvement in the murder of Vemula Sagar (17), whose body was found in suspicious circumstances near Gundi village in Asifabad mandal on March 29, 2022.

A special team constituted by SP Nitika Pant solved the mystery behind the suspicious death and found that it was a murder. The team, comprising Inspectors Balaji Varaprasad, Santosh Kumar, Sridhar, and constable Mahesh, took the duo into custody with the help of technology.

During interrogation, Malleshwari confessed to killing him with the help of two persons. She said she killed the youngster as he was talking to her daughter and due to differences with him. She confessed to strangling him after taking him to Gundi in an auto-rickshaw. The trio then burnt the body to destroy evidence.

TT carried series of reports

A series of reports were published in these columns when the police could not find a breakthrough in the incident. It carried a report pointing out that mystery shrouded the death of the youngster in April 2022 and another report stating that police would conduct a polygraph test on the suspects when they could not get leads in the case in May of the same year. It took four years for the police to unravel the mystery and find the involvement of the three persons.

Enclosing copies of the reports, Mondakka approached the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) seeking justice in 2022. She expressed happiness over the arrest of the two.
