Delhi on Thursday enforced the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule to curb air pollution, barring refuelling for vehicles without valid PUC certificates and allowing entry only for BS-VI compliant vehicles registered outside the national capital.
A thick layer of smog engulfed Delhi-NCR, pushing the city’s AQI to 387 in the ‘very poor’ category. Several areas recorded ‘severe’ pollution levels, prompting health advisories and warnings of heightened risks for vulnerable groups.
With Diwali around the corner, the Delhi Government had already banned the sale and bursting of firecrackers in the city to prevent further deterioration of air quality.
