Koppal police have registered a POCSO case against murder victim Gavisiddappa Nayak and his family, drawing widespread criticism from the Valmiki community and opposition parties, who allege political motivation and demand a central agency probe into the August 3 killing.
One of the accused, Maruthi Rao, had died by suicide during the trial. Among the seven remaining accused, Subhash Sharma was awarded death sentence while the rest, including Asgar Ali, Abdul Bari, MA Kareem, Shravan, Shiva and MA Nizam were sentenced to life imprisonment
