Hyderabad food safety teams inspected 130 establishments and seized about 36 tonnes of suspected adulterated ghee and raw materials. Officials said cheaper oils, vanaspati and artificial flavours were used in products sold as genuine ghee and urged consumers to remain cautious.
The H-FAST team raided six food establishments in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, detecting violations including unhygienic conditions, reused cooking oil, artificial colours, expired products and poor sanitation. Six persons were apprehended and handed over to Food Safety Officers for further action.
Hyderabad’s H-FAST has registered 185 cases and seized 121.87 tonnes of adulterated food in 100 days. The crackdown covered multiple zones and food categories, including meat, dairy, fruits and packaged items, with 247 cases referred for regulatory action.
A joint H-FAST and Food Safety team raided an unlicensed food unit in Charminar and seized adulterated food items, including fried chicken, cooking oil and artificial colours. Officials found multiple food safety violations and apprehended two persons linked to the operation.
