A man was arrested in Mirchowk for illegally selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor from his residence without a valid licence. Police seized 318 bottles containing 57.2 litres of liquor worth Rs 60,000. The accused was handed over to Mirchowk police.
The tax revenue reached Rs.69,000 crore against the budgeted Rs 1.64 lakh crore, falling short by approximately Rs.13,000 crore as of September 30 and posing a huge challenge for the State government to run the show.
In a complete overhaul of excise policy based on best practices from other states, Andhra Pradesh has decided retail sales of liquor through 3,736 notified private shops across the state.
According to Excise officials, based on a tip-off, they conducted raids on a closed rice mill on the outskirts of Katnapalli and found the liquor stored illegally.
