The Finance Ministry’s Expenditure Finance Committee has cleared an outlay of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, a major expansion from ISM 1.0’s Rs 76,000 crore. The proposal aims to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem, reduce import dependence, and meet up to 75 pc of domestic chip demand by 2030.
