More than 50,000 nominations have been found valid for the Andhra Pradesh MPTC and ZPTC elections scheduled on November 3. Major parties including TDP, Jana Sena, BJP and YSRCP have fielded candidates across local body constituencies.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accused the YSR Congress Party and its chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of attempting to stall local body elections and hinder development through court cases and alleged conspiracies.
"When he could not do much in AP where he had fairly good support base, how can one expect him to perform well in Telangana where his party hardly has any presence?" a BJP leader said.
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, has directed BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy and JSP leader and actor Pawan Kalyan to collaborate for the Telangana polls.
