The study findings were published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Globally, an estimated 10 million people develop tuberculosis (TB) each year and the disease remains a leading cause of death from a single infectious agent.
"We've known for a while that both genetics and environment play a role in the development of MS," said senior author David Hafler, Professor at Yale University in the US.
