The BRS launched a statewide agitation at thermal power plants and Singareni offices, alleging coal shortages and falling generation had triggered a power crisis in Telangana. Party leaders protested at Yadadri, KTPP, Bhadradri, Kothagudem and Singareni Bhavan.

An artisan, T Suresh of Kompelli, died after allegedly falling into the fly ash sump at Kakatiya Thermal Power Project in Bhupalpally. His body was found on Wednesday, a day after the incident. Police have booked a case and begun investigation.

Before executing the works, a technical committee was constituted and only after the feasibility report was submitted, the project went ahead.
