KAVACH 4.0 has been commissioned for the first time on South Central Railway over 108 route km between Malkajgiri and Kamareddi. The upgrade improves train-location accuracy, signal information, station communication and integration with electronic interlocking systems.
Indian Railways has approved Kavach Version 4.0 on 607.7 route kilometres of the Lucknow Division of Northeastern Railway at a cost of Rs 252 crore. It also cleared Rs 209 crore for Electronic Interlocking at seven Solapur Division stations

The indigenous automatic train protection system aims to prevent signal violations, control speeds and reduce collision risks, strengthening railway safety and modernising signalling infrastructure
South Central Railway has exceeded its Kavach 4.0 trial targets, covering 487 route km. It also expanded Automatic Block Signalling across key sections, enhancing train safety and capacity while reducing the risk of collisions across multiple railway routes.
