Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan arrived in Gujarat ahead of the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony in Kevadia. He visited the Statue of Unity and enjoyed local delicacies including thepla, before receiving the National Award for his performance in Chandu Champion.
The 182-metre tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, billed as the world's tallest and built on the Sadhu Bet islet near the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadia.
PM Modi is on a two-day visit to the state, the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown in March, to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
