The State government has tasked the BC Commission to decide the percentage of reservations for the OBCs in local bodies

Elections were due for ward members and sarpanches of 12,769 gram panchayats, 5,817 MPTCs, and 534 ZPTCs.

Elections are being held in 8,235 seats, where the BJP has fielded 8,161 candidates, the Congress-7,778, the Aam Aadmi Party-2,090, among others, said the SEC.
