The contest for the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor’s post has turned into a high-stakes battle between the BJP and Congress. Despite the BJP initially securing the required majority with independents and AIFB support, Congress reshaped the scenario by drawing defections.
The Kothagudem Municipal Corporation delivered a hung verdict with Congress and CPI winning 22 divisions each, BRS eight, independents six, and BJP one.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has appealed to Karimnagar residents to elect BJP candidates in the upcoming municipal polls, stressing that Central funds would continue to flow only if the mayor’s seat is handed to the party.
