Microsoft has launched its fourth cloud region in India, India South Central, in Hyderabad as part of its $20.5-billion investment commitment. The new region will support advanced AI workloads, strengthen Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, and feature sustainable zero-water cooling technology.
The 1M1B Foundation, Microsoft, MeitY Startup Hub and the Telangana government will establish India's first Green Skills and Applied AI Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad. The centre will focus on AI-driven green pharma, sustainable manufacturing and workforce development.
Microsoft India President Puneet Chandok urged youth to build AI fluency through hands-on practice, comparing it to fitness training. Stressing constant upskilling, he highlighted emerging AI-driven roles, resilience, adaptability, and growth mindset as crucial for workplace success in India’s fast-growing AI economy
