LG Electronics on Wednesday announced that its mobile communications (MC) unit is open to "every possibility" for its future operations amid rumors that the company may sell the struggling mobile business.

"In the global market, the competition is getting fierce in the mobile business which includes smartphones," LG said in a statement late on Wednesday.

In its earnings guidance, the South Korean tech giant estimated its operating profit at 9 trillion won ($8.2 billion) for the October-December period in 2020, up 25.7 per cent from a year ago.
