The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned to October 15 the hearing on a plea by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, challenging his detention under the National Security Act and seeking his immediate release, citing paucity of time.
The petition, filed through Farasat, alleged that for this criticism Erendro has spent some days in custody pursuant to criminal cases initiated against him.
The observations assume significance in view the recent decision of the Uttar Pradesh administration to prosecute people under the National Security Act.
Khan had hit the headlines after the 2017 tragedy at Gorakhpur's Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College, in which several children died due to a lack of oxygen cylinders.
