Algeria soccer player Youcef Atal, who plays for French Ligue 1 side Nice, apologized after reportedly reposting and then deleting a video that called for “a black day for Jews.”
The assailant, who was shot and wounded by police, was identified as 21-year-old Brahim Aouissaoui, who arrived in Italy last month, then travelled to France, judicial sources said.
The assailant "kept repeating 'Allahu Akbar' (God is Greater) even while under medication" after he was injured during his arrest, Nice's Mayor Christian Estrosi told journalists at the scene.
