The Supreme Court cancelled bail for Kannada actor Darshan, Pavithra Gowda and others in the Renukaswamy murder case, ordering their immediate custody. Police detained Gowda after the verdict, while Darshan remains untraceable. The victim, a fan, was allegedly murdered over obscene messages
The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled bail granted to Kannada actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case, overturning Karnataka High Court’s order citing serious infirmities. The court noted strong allegations and forensic evidence, stressing the trial court is the proper forum
Darshan was released from prison on October 30, after 131 days behind bars, after the Karnataka High Court granted him conditional bail on medical grounds for six weeks.
Photos and videos showing Darshan enjoying life inside the prison with coffee, cigarettes and making video calls surfaced and went viral on social media in the last 24 hours.
The photo shows Darshan holding a coffee mug while sitting cross-legs on a chair. He is also seen holding a cigarette in another hand and is seen joyful and enjoying inside the prison.
The bench headed by Justice S.R. Krishnakumar adjourned the matter to Thursday after issuing a notice regarding the petition to the jail authorities, Kamakshipalya police, and the state government.
The remand application states that the investigation revealed Pavithra Gowda, who is currently in judicial custody, actively participated in committing the murder of Renukaswamy.
