Under COVA’s Compassionate Citizenship Programme, students in Hyderabad are leading a campaign for plastic-free schools and elder care awareness. Several schools have pledged to eliminate plastic use by 2026, while students are also engaging faith leaders to spread awareness.
A government school in Khammam district has gone completely plastic-free, thanks to the sustained efforts of Duggidevara Sri Raghunandan, a student from Mallaram village. The school, already a recipient of multiple Swachh Vidyalaya Awards, stands as a model for other institutions aiming to eliminate plastic use.
