Khammam: BRS working president K T Rama Rao has lauded a student, Duggidevara Sri Raghunandan for adopting and developing Mandal Parishad Primary School (MPPS) at Mallavaram of Tallada mandal in the district.
It might be recalled that Sri Raghunandan, studying BBA in a college in Bengaluru, made the school plastic-free by donating steel water bottles for drinking water, steel plates to have midday meals, besides providing steel, aluminum and glass items as an alternative to plastic items.
Rama Rao invited the student after he wrote a letter to the BRS leader expressing his desire to meet him. Sri Raghunandan along with his family members; Duggidevara Samrajyam- a former sarpanch, Duggidevara Venkatalal, Ajay Kumar, Yudhishthir and others called on Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan on Friday.
Accompanied by MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra, Rama Rao felicitated Sri Raghunandan and inquired about the initiatives taken by him. The student stated that he adopted the MPPS on February 17, 2016, coinciding with the birthday of former Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao.
The activities like creation of infrastructure, promotion of cleanliness and greenery, water conservation and the elimination of plastic at the school were carried out with the support of his family members after being inspired by actor Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Srimanthudu’, he said.
Rama Rao told the student that he would take his work to the attention of Chandrashekhar Rao and actor Mahesh Babu. It was commendable that the school has received national and State-level ‘Swachh’ awards.
Doing good deeds for society inevitably leads to positive outcomes in return, he said and encouraged Sri Raghunandan to continue the same spirit and undertake further initiatives for the benefit of the school.
