The Opposition, led by the Congress, has announced that it will press the Union government for answers on key issues during the Monsoon session of Parliament starting Monday. These include the alleged theft of donations at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, the NEET-UG paper leak, the forced hospitalisation of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, rising inflation, and large-scale defections among opposition parties.

The Uttar Pradesh government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted its status report in a sealed cover to the Supreme Court regarding alleged financial irregularities in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Petitioners seek a court-monitored probe, preservation of donation records, and in some cases, transfer of the investigation to the CBI.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said the Opposition has sought discussions during the Monsoon Session on the alleged theft of Ram Temple donations, Manipur, ethanol blending and student issues. Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav also demanded a debate on these matters

The Nirmohi Akhara has moved the Supreme Court seeking reconstitution of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust as a public trust, arguing that its current private structure violates the spirit of the 2019 Ayodhya verdict. The matter will be heard on July 20.
