Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, serving a 20-year sentence for the rape of two disciples, has been granted a 21-day furlough and will stay at his Sirsa headquarters. This is his 17th release from Sunaria jail in Rohtak since his 2017 conviction.
The Bombay High Court has convicted former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal of raping a junior colleague in 2013, overturning his 2021 acquittal. The Goa bench sentenced him to 10 years, sharply criticising the trial court for shifting the burden of proof onto the survivor.
