"redevelopment"

Andhra Pradesh government has approved a redevelopment model for Velampeta slum in Visakhapatnam. The project will provide 177 homes through a high-rise complex, using private investment and transferable development rights. It is planned as a pilot for wider slum redevelopment.

The redevelopment works, at a cost of Rs.700 crore, commenced in April 2023 and aim for completion in 36 months (i.e., towards the end of 2025)
