Former Minister T Harish Rao has accused Congress leaders and senior officials of large-scale irregularities in the Bhu Bharati portal, alleging that middlemen pocketed 90 percent of land registration fees. He demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the scam, which he claimed spans 37 mandals and nearly one crore acres.
Telangana has resumed the regularisation of Sada Bainama land transactions, but farmers fear steep fees as the government plans to raise up to Rs 1,200 crore. Slow verification, outdated records and disputes with original landowners are delaying progress across several districts.
In a few places, the government had already issued pattas to people who constructed structures on government land through GOs 58 and 59, Sada Bainama and notary.
