The Olympics beginning in Tokyo from July 23 will see many firsts -- deferred by a year, no crowds, athletes in a bio-bubble and stringent protocols
The award seeks to recognize achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved.
Public broadcaster NHK said the group paid more than eight million yen ($76,000) for the events over five years until 2019.
The talks come weeks ahead of the US presidential election and amid tensions between the US and China over the virus, trade, technology, Hong Kong, Taiwan and human rights.
