A distributory of the Singur left bank canal breached at Isojipet in Pulkal mandal, Sangareddy, on Sunday—the second such incident in a year. Officials blamed heavy inflows, while farmers alleged poor-quality repairs. Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha inspected the site.
After a two-season crop holiday due to canal lining works, 100 cusecs of water was released into the Singur Left Bank Canal on Thursday. The move will benefit 40,000 acres of ayacut and facilitate paddy transplantation across the district.
