Indian American Congressman Suhas Subramanyam has been re-elected to represent Virginia's 10th Congressional District. The son of Tamil physicians, he has advocated visa reforms, criticised US tariffs on India and raised concerns over the Trump administration's H-1B policy.
Indian-American candidates made contrasting final appeals ahead of the US midterm elections, reflecting the broader national divide. Republicans such as Vivek Ramaswamy and Saritha Komatireddy focused on crime, taxes, energy costs and affordability, while Democrats including Suhas Subramanyam, Ro Khanna, Pooja Sethi and Pia Dandiya emphasized opposition to Donald Trump, concerns over the Iran war, and rising hate incidents.
He won the intra-party election on Tuesday to become the Democratic candidate for the November House of Representatives election in their constituency.
