Active under the banner of Covid-19 Joint Action Committee (JAC), 60 volunteers belonging to Tabligi Jamaat have cremated bodies of 560 Covid victims since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

The high court had on February 24 issued notices and sought replies of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi Government and Delhi Police on the petition filed by the Delhi Waqf Board.

It said if the pending revision petition filed by the police against the foreigners was allowed by the court, then they would have to come back to India to join the proceedings.

"There is no iota of evidence with prosecution to show any contravention of order by accused persons beyond all shadow of doubt," the court observed.
