Since the sighting of Ramzan, hijab-clad women across Hyderabad have been attending taraweeh prayers in large numbers at mosques, madrasas, and community halls. Local groups and seminary students are playing a key role in organising these congregations for women.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Hyderabad will meet this evening to confirm the sighting of the crescent moon, which will determine the start of Ramzan. While Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries began observing Ramzan on Wednesday, Hyderabad is expected to follow from Thursday, subject to the committee’s announcement.
