Hyderabad police busted a tea powder adulteration racket and arrested 10 persons during raids at 15 locations. The accused mixed synthetic chemicals and reused materials with low-quality tea, posing serious health risks to consumers.
Police arrested a suspect in Brundavan Colony, Bolarum, on Wednesday for producing adulterated tea powder. They seized 336 packets, totaling 100 kg, falsely branded under various labels.
Three persons were arrested in this connection by the police who also seized 300 kgs of spurious tea powder, 200 kgs of coconut shell powder, spurious colours, packing material and other items from them.
Acting on a tip off, the team raided a shop at Aghapura in the Habeebnagar police station limits and caught one person Mohd Sami, who was packing local tea powder in boxes of branded companies for sale in the market.
