Three held for selling spurious tea powder in Hyderabad
Three persons were arrested in this connection by the police who also seized 300 kgs of spurious tea powder, 200 kgs of coconut shell powder, spurious colours, packing material and other items from them.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police busted a gang which was adulterating tea powder with coconut shell powder and seized huge quantities coconut powder om Wednesday. Three persons were arrested in this connection by the police who also seized 300 kgs of spurious tea powder, 200 kgs of coconut shell powder, spurious colours, packing material and other items from them.
The arrested Bishoya Jaganath (32), Pratap Pradan (21) and Sivswain Parida (19), purchased low quality tea powder from the market and mixed coconut shell powder and after adding spurious chemicals, packed it in boxes and sold in the market for a price of Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 a kilogram, said DCP Task Force, Y V S Sudheendra.
On a tip off, the police raided a godown at Fathengar in Balanagar and caught them. Jaganath, was previously involved in similar activities and three cases were registered against him.
