Voters braved chilly morning conditions as polling progressed steadily across 439 panchayats in the erstwhile Adilabad district on Thursday. More than 7,300 candidates are contesting for Sarpanch and ward seats, with turnout crossing 40% in most districts by noon.
The first phase of gram panchayat elections begins in Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial, and Rajanna-Sircilla districts on Tuesday. Authorities have deployed large police forces, imposed prohibitory orders, and arranged webcasting to ensure smooth polling and counting of votes.
